Items Arising from the Minutes:
- Moved by Ron Duncan, seconded by Art Raven, we create the position of Education Director/Co-ordinator responsible for fishing topics; motion carried. John Pierce volunteered for this position.
- Fly-casting session with Ian Muirhead was a success: eight members for Spey casting and five for single-handed.
Treasurer:Sunshine: Social: Soup and Hot Dog lunch on 8 Nov at 10:30 AM at Goldstream Park. Bring chairs, cutlery and desserts.
Membership:Fresh Water:
- Barry fishing on Prospect Lake, good size trout using Royal Coachman. John P using orange Boobie, one fish. Brian red-headed Wooly Bugger and down-rigger with plug, both did well.
- Cecil on Elk Lake, Tequila Boobie, 12-14" trout.
- Sooke River, lots of fish.
- Fashion tip: if you wear black, fish may think you are a black bear.
Salt Water: Winter spring fishing is picking up, reported to be excellent at Constance Bank.
ACS: Library:Newsletter:Legacy Fund:Gillie Club: Dennis: Billings Spit at the mouth of the Sooke still has fish, and they can be kept if caught there. No circle hooks available in Victoria.
Speakers Program: Fund Raising:Hatchery/Fence: Not a lot at hatchery or fence, waiting for the rains.
Environment:
- Sara, from Colquitz Fence and Sean Simmons, speaker on 22 Jan 2019.
- Mick – PICI – we have a volunteer, a well qualified graduate student.
- Sidney Summit – 10 Nov – Adam Olsen, Elizabeth May, Robert Bateman; day visit, optional dinner, Bill is attending.
- Elk Lake aeration report is in hand from CRD.
- Blue lights on Johnson Street bridge are being turned down.
- Sara, spoke about Invertebrate research in Colquitz and Millstream.
- Mick on vacation for four weeks.

- Nominating Committee for executive: Still looking for salt water chair.
- Art Raven: brought historic newspaper picture of chinook salmon, 116 lbs and 121 lbs, caught at the mouth of the Columbia River at Astoria, Washington in the early 20th century.
