Members Attending: 31 including two new members - Tommy Wong, Dave MacLean
Minutes of Last Meeting: Adopted as distributed Barry/Ryan. Carried
Items Arising from the Minutes: Correction, error in the minutes: A $200 donation to Legacy Fund by Sandy and Solange should have been reported as a return of surplus funds from the Christmas Luncheon. John apologized to Sandy and Solange. for the mistake.
Treasurer:Sunshine: The club extends condolences to President Dave on the passing of him brother and to Bob C on the passing of his mother who attained the grand age of 99.
Social: The Chinese New Year luncheon will be on Feb 7th Time and place to be announced. This is one of the social highlights on the club calendar with wonderful food and social conviviality. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
Membership:Fresh Water:
- Barry fished Durrance Lake but fishing was very slow. Shore fishers were having similar non luck
- The fishout committee will soon be presenting plans for numerous fishouts both formal and informal
- The proposed trip to the interior in late May is in the planning stage and when accommodation dates are confirmed details will be reported to the members at an upcoming meeting.
Salt Water:
- John went on a guided trip with Good Time Dave and caught numerous typical small winter springs of which 6 were kept.
- A tip passed on to Bob C is to fish around the freighters whose night lights attract fish.
ACS: Library: Three books have donated to the library, see Colin for details.

Speakers Program: Speakers lined up for next few months.
Jan 22- Anglers Atlas – its use as a fishing information tool

Fund Raising:Hatchery/Fence: A new process for implanting Fish Tags in hatchery smolts was discussed. Bill will report on the program at the next meeting.
Environment:1. A book on Coastal Cutthroat Trout was recommended by Mick.
2. The Gorge Waterway Initiative committee meeting received an update on the Mckenzie interchange and a report on the restoration of Elk/Beaver Lake including watershed management.
3. Mick presented an information session to a new group – The Beaver, Elk ,Environmental Stewards. B.E.E.S. is a community group taking an interest in and providing support as a watershed watch keeper and lobby group.

New Business: Jim made a presentation to members about fishing Elk Lake and he encouraged everyone to practice catch and release for the scarce cutthroat trout in the lake.
Several club members attended a community meeting of the Provincial Salmon Advisory Committee. Presentations were heard from over 35 citizens reacting to the proposals for enhancing wild salmon restoration. The overall tone of the meeting was positive and the committee expressed appreciation for the many suggestions made to assist the committee with their final report. The Premier was in attendance and expressed positive comments about the sense of hope that surrounding the process.
Meeting Adjournment: Speaker: Jochen Moehr gave an enthusiastically received presentation on his transition for Hunter to Fly Fisher who became conscious of our need to treat Sooke River spawning Chum Salmon with respect by limiting ones seasonal catch to 10 fish and to release caught fish without removing them from the water.
Executive Meeting: A brief meeting of the executive was held following the speakers presentation.
