Robert McConnell/Presidents Special – his favourite
- Hook - Mustad 9671 or equivalent size 8 or 10.
- Thread – 6/0 Black.
- Tail – Black Marabou.
- Body – Olive dubbing or ultra chenille.
- Hackle – Natural grizzly.
- Head – Peacock Herl.
Tying Instructions
- Tie in black thread to the hook bend.
- Tie in a short marabout tail – ¼ inch.
- Tie in the hackle by the tip at the hook bend.
- Dub a thin olive body or use ultra chenille and secure back of the eye.
- Attach hackle pliers to the hackle and make 4-5 turns to 1/8 inch from eye.
- Form a large head with the peacock of 5-6 wraps.
