Golden Rods and Reels Fishing and Social Club

Meeting Minutes, (2 April 2019)

Place:  Silver Threads Centre, 2340 Richmond Rd, Victoria, BC

Chaired By:  Dave Cooke

Secretary:  Bill Thomas

Called to Order:  9:30 AM

Members Attending: 22 with  Dave Buchwald from Alberta attending his first meeting.

Minutes of Last Meeting: Adopted as distributed

Items Arising from the Minutes: Spelling changes: Durrance, Winter Spring (chinook), Jochen

Treasurer: Treasurer Report presented for 3 months – see John Francis for any questions

Sunshine: Art – Colin is healing but will the around 6 weeks for a full recovery

Social:
Fish-out at Durrance was enjoyed by all.
Sandy R – 25 Apr, Thursday – Elk Lake Fishout and Social – Fishing will take place in the morning. If you wish to help set up please be at the pavilion at 11:30 AM.  Lunch will start  at 12:30 PM. with the Chilli and Pie Tasting competition . To place a Vote for the best Chilli/Pie, bring lots of quarters  (Note: quarters are coinage of choice} 1 quarter per vote, if you use a loonie or toonie, it is still only one vote, no nickels or dimes pls! Please bring your own chairs, cutlery, crockery. Those that can bring a jug of water this will be helpful.

Membership: no change

Fresh Water: Rob – Tony – 2 at Durrance, Barry – 5 Durrance, Ron – 4 Durrance, Pumpkinhead was the go to fly , with Robs Fly and the Beaded Leech also being successful.
Sandy is going tomorrow (3 Apr) Durrance tomorrow – 10 AM weather permitting

Salt Water: Ryan – Slow, fishing is slow, using a 3" herring spoon off the Water Front, Clover Point
Sport Fishing Advisory Board report by Bill - Questions see Bill

Fly Tying: 8 Apr at Robs 1:30 – 3:30 PM
ACS: No Report

Library: No Report

Legacy Fund: Executive Committee to review proposals and come back to members with recommendations

Gillie Club:
Dennis – report on Buttle Lake water levels, reservoir levels are very low already, winter was very dry, low snow pack. Prediction is for Low water levels for Buttle Lake this year (2019). It will be difficult to launch boats this year.

Speakers Program: No Speaker this week

Fund Raising: No Report

Hatchery/Fence:
Progressing. clipping expected to be done in June

Environment: No Report

New Business:
Haig Brown Sale and Swap,  – staffed by Dave, Brian, Dennis & Bill. The Sale and Swap is open to purchasers, 10-3 on Sat, 13 Apr at Pro Pat Legion, 411 Gorge Rd. We are purchasing one table. If u want articles to sell or swap, u will need to contact Dave C.

2019 Fishing Licences are now available.
