Legacy Fund Committee – need another member
Sunshine:Rob – update by Ron on his condition
Doris – bad fall, still in hospital
Social:
- Sandy – Corn Roast – successful, 28 – 30 attended, thanked the many helpers
- Oct 17 – Thanksgiving Dinner, set up 4:45, Appetizers – 5:00, $2.00 per person – Share inspirational stories with us that night
- 3 Dec – Xmas Dinner – Cedar Hill Golf Club –we must confirm week before – if you say you're going, you will be Charged $34.50
Membership: Fresh Water:
- Barry – Prospect Lake – some small bass
- Dale – Durrance – Cut Throat Trout – oversized black leeches off down rigger at 23' 9:00 AM
- Winston – Prospect nothing
- Ryan – maintains water is still too warm
- Bill – no Chum yet in Sooke River
Salt Water:
- John F – 3 weeks ago, double header, 15 lbs Chinook, some pinks
- Good Time Dave – good Halibut Fishing
- Ken - Port Renfrew – lots of Chinook
- Bill – Kyoquot – good fishing
- Peter – Bam field – great fishing – 100 boats in area, seals and sea lions were taking a great many salmon, there will be shortage of Salmon soon if we are not careful
Fly Tying: John P Saturday at 10 AM
ACS: Brian – letter to Ministry of Fishery, no response. Sooke hatchery will be open this fall. Casting and spinning reels available from Esquimalt Anglers, 7-9 AM daily. New Gator at Gold stream Hatchery. $2000 to World Fisheries Trust, report by John F. referring to Mick's report. 15 Jul, protest at Breakwater, 40 boats.
Library: Colin – chasing members to return Books
Legacy Fund: Gillie Club: Dennis, – if anyone has any questions, please ask Dennis before and after meetings
Connecticut – 3 days fishing, went to Vermont, didn't catch a lot, nice family time, 2 Guided Trips on Atlantic – lots of fish
Cluxewe – one fish in 3 weeks. U can tighten line on Sooke river, but not in open water, lost a good fish
Speakers Program: Bob – program is progressing, John P today on Tides.
Fund Raising:Hatchery/Fence:
- 130,000 Coho to clip. , 19 Sep – GRR clipping 10:00 am-2:00 pm, Need 12 – 14 please.
- GRR has committed to having a team on Thursday mornings, 9:30 am at Colquitz Fence to handle returning Salmon. We need at least 4 for this each Thursday during the season. Should begin the end of month.
Environment: CRD Report – read presentation to Club, well received
Website: New Business: On a motion by John F, seconded by Bill T, the club purchase a table for the Peninsula Streams Gala, 9 Nov. Carried. GRR Members may purchase tickets for this event from the Club, to support the many excellent on going projects of Peninsula Streams. A table sits 8. The Gala format is: live and silent auction, dinner including Appetizers from Finest of the Sea, dinner held at the Saanich Fair Grounds. Tables are selling quickly.

Speaker: John Pearce – Gave a very informative talk on Tides. This generated a great deal of conversation from members, pros and cons. WELL DONE JOHN
