TREASURER'S REPORT (JohnF): No report
MEMBERSHIP (JohnF): One new member Brian Canfield, welcome. Twelve paid dues todate as due in November, please send funds via Interac eTransfer to Treasurer@GoldenRodsandReels.com (Treasurer@GoldenRodsandReels.com) or cheques. Approved Fees same as last year on website's Homepage (http://goldenrodsandreels.com), will resend email on annual dues and Interac eTransfer.
SUNSHINE REPORT (Vacant): Discussion. Best Wishes Cards for people.
SOCIAL (Vacant): BC new guideline max 6, thus now not easily feasible for joint food.
FRESHWATER FISHING REPORTS (RonD):
1) BillT: Sooke River, 10 to shore almost every cast strike, weighted small #6 green yarn fly, best fishing on Sooke River ever. Only foul hooked one salmon, old. BrianP also on Sooke River, also did well. No seals yesterday.
2) JimM: Sooke River Wednesday & Thursday, used clear fly line, #6 yarn fly, lip hooked every Coho/Chum, average 8# so no run onto shore.
3) DaveC: Sooke River, seals and otters, Sunday windy and few fishers. Floating line and 6ft sinking tip.
4) DaveC: Prospect Lake looks busy with fishers.
SALTWATER FISHING REPORTS:
1) No report.
FUND RAISING: $50 from lead sale.
VOLUNTEERING (BillT):
1) Pennisula Streams (BillT): has volunteer positions available.
2) Goldstream Hatchery (BillT): Collected 10 male chum and 30 female chum, taken 62000 eggs, clipping started.
3) Colquitz River Fence (BillT): Doing well, Thursday 9am volunteering, if no salmon then coffee time. Improvements significantly helped stop otters in trap.
SPEAKER PROGRAM (BobC): UVic speaker 10:15am Nov 10 "Canada's Darwinian Fish".
FLY TYING MEETING (DaveR): Weekly Zoom meetings ongoing on Saturdays, see website > Calendar. This Saturday demo "Gary's Leech".F has lots of gear to give away.
CONSERVATION REPORT (MickC):
1) CRD Watershed Plan for Elk/Beaver Lake released along with companion document.
2) Peninsula Streams submitting plan to reduce nutrients into Elk/Beaver Lake.
3) Beaver population increasing locally.
LEGACY FUND (BarryF): No update.
AMALGAMATED CONSERVATION SOCIETY (BillT): No report.
WEBSITE (JohnP): Fixed Zoom settings problem.
GILLIE REPORT (DennisG): No report.
LIBRARY REPORT (ColinC): Lots of books to read.
NEW BUSINESS:
1) DaveC: Nanaimo's Island Water Fly Fishing Association attending our Meetings and Presentations, agreed, also to have Sunshine and Financial separate. Also agreed to invite other clubs, send any contact details to DaveC to invite.
