MINUTES Golden Rods and Reels October 5,2021

Minutes for last minutes adopted Barry F and seconded John F

Treasurer's report:
John will be sending out a financial statement this week for review next week

Sunshine Report:
Ron D is recovering at home and Sandy is picking his daughter up at the airport tomorrow. His daughter will be staying with him for a couple of weeks and his son will be coming out to stay with him.
Christopher is on the slow and steady road to recovery.

Social : Bob advised that they are trying to work out an event like we have had in past late October.

Membership: No Change

Fishing Reports:
A number of members have been to the Sooke river with varying results, but the main run has yet to arrive as number of landed fish have been limited.
Prospect Lake has started to produce fish again.
Langford lake has also seen fishing increasing but people have concerns with the algae.
Ken Evans advised that he had purchased a small 12-foot aluminium punt and trailer and was asking what he can access with a trailer.

Saltwater:
Bob C has been out but unfortunately his planning for a good day was cut short by fog. He noted that that out of 4 salmon caught 3 will be wild.

Fly tying: Will be at Colin's on Saturday morning at 10

Library: Colin is looking forward for someone coming forward to take over the library.

Volunteering: Bill is working on the counting station today. People should note that the various information Bill has forwarded on to all members of the club. Partially the returns of salmon to the BC rivers. Notably the chum returns of 28,000 to the Sooke.

Gillie Report: Dennis is away today

Legacy Report: No Change

AMCS Reports: Updates sent out by email through Bill.

Website: no changes

Conservation: Mick updated us on his work on Elk Lake and the ongoing submissions for funding.

Fund Raising: No active events

New Business:

It was discussed that the possibility of lower the membership fees for this coming year. This will be further discussed when there are more members present.

An excellent present was made that was well received by the members.
