Sunshine: No report of illness
Social: Bob – Will send a Chat email to see who will attend the Chinese Luncheon on Thursday 3 February. 11:30 at the Jade Fountain restaurant in the basement of the RED Lion.
Membership: No report
Fishing Report Fresh Water:
1. Dale went out to Prospect Lake, water temp only 33 degrees F. Had some hits but no fish
2. West Coast Flyfishers have a Cowichan R fishout planned for Saturday 29 Jan. GRR members welcome
Fishing Report Salt Water:
1. Tony and Bill went out. No fish. Very few boats out
Fly Tying: Zoom: Dave R will demonstrate SCUD patterns. Florin's patterns TBA
Affiliate Meetings:
1. ACS: Meeting coming up this month
2. South Vancouver Island Angler's Coalition (SVIAC). Mike Corry went to Chris Bos's meeting which gave an overview of the Board's role. The advisory board used to be able to talk to the Federal Minister directly, but no more. Chris emphasized the advisory role of the Board. Noted that sports fishing guides are also represented.
Library: No report
Legacy Fund: $1000 previously approved for set-aside for WFT. Require approval for Coastal Collaboration - $1000 PSS - $1000.00 - Sooke Net Pens $1000 proposals. t was decided that Legacy recommendations would be dealt with by the Executive, then a vote of the membership at a regular meeting.
Gillie Club: Dennis G.
1. Buttle Lake. Please contact Dennis if you are going. 19 May for up to two weeks.
2. Cluxewe. There are a number of members interested
Speakers Program:
1. Today- A movie was shown "Our Planet/High Seas by David Attenborough
2. Feb 1st: Movie-The thinking garden: A film about an inspiring South African women's farm
3. Feb: None-Exec Meeting
Fund Raising: No report. No one assigned.
Hatchery:
1. Bill T. Last batch of this year's fish are being clipped. Very low mortality rate. In spite of egg shortage, eggs are being delivered to 87 schools.
2. No action has been undertaken regarding the closing of the Nature Hut for funding reasons. We need to know how much money they need to reopen.
Environment: Mick
1. Elk Lake Dock. Funding requests continue.
2. Legacy fund. Mick will outline the basics of each request.
Website: No report
New Premises:
1. Esquimalt Anglers Clubhouse. Agreement signed 22 January. Basics—GRR pays for a stairlift to be installed. No "rent" until the stairlift is paid for (3-4 years) then $400/Year plus inflation.
2. JF to check availability of WiFi at EAA clubhouse
3. Stairlift-hit a snag. The one we proposed buying is not suitable for other premises. Purchase cancelled. Obtaining another quotation. See proposal attached to these minutes.
