Secretary: Bob Comerford
Called to Order: 9:30 AM. One minute of silence was held in memory of Ron Duncan. Ron had been a member of the club for 12 years. Her held the position of president and secretary. He was a proficient angler in salt and fresh water. He encouraged new members in fly fishing. Ron would also be the hot dog man at our fish outs at Durrance Lake. I personally have spent many an hour with Ron in the back of my boat fishing for salmon off the waterfront and Becher Bay. We rarely got skunked. He always had a tale to tell, a song to sing, and his favorite line was "fish on! ". I surely will miss him. There will be a celebration of life at Spinnakers this Thursday 2:00pm to 4:00 pm. Contact Sandy McElroy if you are attending. Sandy is selling Ron's boat. It is approx. 8ft. comes with electric motor and depth sounder. It is ideal for the local lakes. It's a good deal. The report documents the request for BC Govt staff to update Elk/Beaver Lake water balance model and using a water balance approach, to prepare hydrological assessments of both Colquitz and Craigflower watersheds. The report stems from two online meetings that Mick organized that were attended by BC, CRD and stewardship group representatives. This summer's drought and the previous atmospheric river underscore the importance of improved hydrological data.
On Thursday October 26 Mick is participating with the BEES in a review of Elk/Beaver Lake monitoring program, hosted by CRD staff. He has taken the opportunity to remind Saanich staff of commitments to implementation of land use measures to reduce external nutrients to Elk/Beaver Lake through his involvement in the work of Resilient Saanich Technical Committee and the update of Saanich Development Permit Areas (DPA).
