Items Arising from the Minutes: Executive Meeting – Register under Societies Act, still under discussion.
Treasurer: Thrifty and Fairway Cards are available.
Sunshine: Barry ill with cold.
Social:
- A an updated calendar of GRR social events for 2018 was distributed by Solange.
- Next Up: Chili tasting and fish-out, Apr 26, Elk Lake; Chili at 11:30, fish-out before hand (and later for the enthusiasts).
- Corn roast date has been changed to 16 August.
Membership: Membership drive is ongoing. Carry Rack Cards when you go fishing and hand them out.
Fresh Water:
- Elk Lake, fishing not good this past week.
- Durrance Lake, Sandy falling in, some tires caught, fly used, March Brown. Bite started at 1 pm. Shore fishers with Power Bait were catching fish.
- Langford Lake, no fish.
Salt Water:
- Ryan, out on Constance Bank, no halibut. Two salmon, 3 and 10 lbs, off Trial Island on the way back.
- Peter, fishing trip to Tahsis booked for 2-5 Jun 2018, now full.
ACS: Brian reported on ACS. Most member clubs are registered under the Societies Act.

- Dennis: Cluxewe and Buttle Lake sign-up sheets are available.
- Cowichan River fly fishing trip: April 24/25 2018 are the available dates. Two cabins, each sleeps 4 people. Kitchenette in one cabin, BBQ available. They provide 2 boats, 4 guided trips a day, two people per trip. $150 per day for accommodations, $500 for each boat trip ($250 per person). Rough cost: $330.00 each for 8 people. Dennis will canvass members for interest on those dates.

Speakers Program: Feb 17 UVic speaker Desiree Bulger on "Fish Communities on BC's Artificial Reefs"
Fund Raising:Hatchery: Environment:
- Dave sent letter to Chris Coleman on lighting of Johnson Street Bridge and potential harm to migrating salmon and trout.
- BCWF appreciates our fly box and fly donations.
- Creatures of Habitat – Peninsula Streams is looking for volunteers for this youth education program.
- BCWF – Magazine with skinned bear picture was not in good taste. Some articles are suspect.

Speaker: Meaghan McDonald, Yogi Carolsfeld and Bob Briggs described the World Fisheries Trust's "Urban Herring Project", with a focus on the Gorge and Portage Inlet herring run. Many more questions than answers when it comes to figuring out the fate of our herring.
