VICE
Heavy pedestal style better as more mobile, i.e. use while camping.
Rotate feature is nice, $30-50-70 right up to Dave's at $400.

WHIP FINISHER
Small weirdly shaped wire device
Matter or Thompson style
For several half hitches

BOBBIN

  • Use: To hold tying spool of thread.
  • Types: Cheap can cut thread, want agate insert tip so no erode.
JP buys second Bobbin, single sided Rite Bobbin brand, Standard model (vs Shorty, Half Hitch, Mag, Cermag models). To remove thread spool, counter clockwise gold cross shaped tensioner, insert spool with 1 washer on either side if want extra-smooth, insert gold and rotate until click. Adjust tension with extra more of less clicks, each adds one ounce. For temporary extra tension use finger on thread as a brake.

PLYERS STANDARD
Small, want no serrations, flat and square tipped

SCISSORS
Sewing have small finger holes, want large holes so that can hold in palm while doing other stuff. Ideally one blade edge serrated, one clean as better at cutting.

HACKLE PLYERS
Odd looking, stay closed

BODKIN
Small wire tool for poking things out that don't want

PEN
