SALMON RIVER

LOCATION

  • 50 min drive up coast on Vancouver Island from Campbell River.
REGULATIONS

  • DFO Area 13-34 "Salmon Bay" is closed to all Finfish Fishing, area extends from harbour all the way up to downstream side of Bridge over Salmon River on Sayward Road (6.4 km from Hwy 19 turnoff).
  • BC Fisheries Area 1-10, jurisdiction for Salmon River presumably starts on south upstream side of Bridge. Open for fishing upstream a long ways to Kay Creek.
ACCESS POINTS

  • Bridge before town.
  • Just past Bridge on south side is Salmon Guest House, have couple access points.
  • Gravel road just before bridge over Salmon River going south along east side of Salmon River.
  • Salmon River Estuary Trail, trailhead at start of Sayward village.
LODGINGS

  • Salmon River Guesthouse, also has Glamping and camping with shower/outdoor kitchen.
HISTORY
20181002-05 John Pierce. Wing-Kee Chan and other HBFFA guys stay at Salmon River Guesthouse, no Salmon in River (guestbook reports of river hopping in July), some Rainbow Trout.
