Meeting Minutes, (28, 01, 2020)

Place: Silver Threads Centre, 2340 Richmond Rd, Victoria, BC

Called to Order: 9:30 AM

Minutes of Last Meeting: Adopted as distributed

Treasurer: John Francis No report

Sunshine: Fidel absent, Ron D. reported that John Guinane was feeling better, dialysis 3 times a week limits his
attendance.

Social : Sandy R. Calendar finalized - Sandy passed out a handout of planed social events – which will be added to GRR website. FEB. 4, 2020 Helen Wells 100th Birthday Potluck at Silver Threads Center Time 11:30. Bring a Birthday Card. Volunteers to help setup while exec meeting is underway(10:30-11:30).

Freshwater: Ron D.
1. Barry and Dale Prospect Lake no luck trolling.
2. Barry spoke fellow who was anchored and was fishing with fast sink lines with booby and bloodworm flies on the bottom- slow retrieve- moves to an new spot after 20 min.
3. Ron D. made up samples of a Famous fly on a challenge from Sandy M. see BC Outdoors Magazine for recipe
4. Bill T.- West Coast Fly Fishing Association fish out Kemp Lake Sunday 10:00
5. Sandy M. - Elk lake fishing dock spoke with Dirk Mitchell who fishes for carp with a long spin cast rod – 40 lb. test line- uses rod tether after losing 9 rods to strikes.

2. John F. has booked an all day halibut and salmon charter with Good Time Dave for Aug 14, 2020- 3 spots - $ 200.00/spot

Hatchery Bill T.
1. 80,000 eyed up eggs to Saturna Island hatchery has device in creek that they put the Chum and Coho eggs that allows the alevin to enter the creek . Good Coho return 2019.
2. 8000 eggs to Salt Spring Island volunteer hatchery
3. 111 Schools in program. Each school gets 200 eggs – students get to see eggs eye up and grow into alevin – release fry in local creeks.
4. Had to 130,000 Coho this year - GRR clipped 15,000 – 25,000 left to clip – next GRR clip date Feb, 17, 2020
