GOLDEN RODS AND REELS - WEEKLY MEETING MINUTES
April 20, 2021

CONVENED: 9:30 am.

SUNSHINE REPORT (WendyG & PatP): Discussion.

SOCIAL (BobC & BillT): Nothing planned.

MEMBERSHIP (JohnF): Have received invoice from BCWF, will email out updated Contact List.

FUND RAISING:
1) SandyM: Thrifty's has extended time for recharging old Smile Cards until end May.
2) JohnF: Selling GRR badged fly boxes, see Chat Email.

TREASURER'S REPORT (JohnF): No report.

FRESHWATER FISHING REPORTS (RonD):
1) WinstonJ: Yesterday on Langford Lake, several hits only landed one. Launching site is now construction site, parking very poor, get there very early.
2) SandyM: With Lev on Prospect Lake yesterday, very few fishers, Sandy landed 7 primarily on orange head green booby on full sinking line in bay above Estelline Park.
4) BillT: Durrance Lake 9 trout on Pumpkin Heads.
5) KenE: Bass fishing on Elk Lake, caught 8 lb Carp on fly!
6) JimM: Relative fished Cutthroat Trout from shore at Basin Bay and Sandhill Creek, landed and released two.

SALTWATER FISHING REPORTS:
1) No reports.

UPCOMING FISHOUTS:
1) Wednesday (SandyM): Durrance Lake.
2) Thursday (BillT): Prospect Lake @ 8:30am.
3) Mid May Buttle Lake (DennisG): 9 groups, water level was lower only in 2011, weather should be warmer and melt snow.
4) Late May Peter Hope Cabin (DaveC): Cabin booked and full with 4, cabin still available following week.
5) Late May Peter Hope Camping (RonD & SandyM): Planning 3 weeks at Peter Hope > Community Lake, SandyM son bring wall tent.
6) End July-August Cluxuwe FishOut (DennisG): No news from campsite to confirm bookings.

LIBRARY REPORT (ColinC): No report.

AMALGAMATED CONSERVATION SOCIETY (BillT): No update.

FLY TYING MEETING (DaveR): Next Saturday Booby's and March Brown.

VOLUNTEERING:
1) Goldstream Hatchery (BillT & TonyO): Ponded 20,000 chum, putting in 8 new tanks so can pond less fish per tank. Capacity is 1.1 million, but DFO limits to 50k Chinook + 200k Coho + 300-400k Chum.
2) BCWF (BillT): Quiet.
3) Peninsula Streams (BillT): AGM by Zoom on May 29, 2021, have to be a member/join to attend, 5 PSS Board Positions available.

WEBSITE (JohnP): Uploaded last week's Presentation & last Saturday's Fly Tying videos to our GRR YouTube Channel. Still have bug in accessing GRR Contact List.

CONSERVATION (MickC): Several topics, see Chat Email on tonight's talk, Wed night is Gorge Waterway Initiative meeting. Elk Lake Oxygenation Project plans ongoing including baseline surveys. World Fisheries Trust 4 interns hired.

GILLIE REPORT (DennisG): No report.

LEGACY FUND (BarryF): No new requests.

NEW BUSINESS
1) Travel Restrictions: Will wait until BC Govt formal announcement to understand impact on upcoming FishOuts.
2) BrianP: Trout truck dropped 1500 200 gr yesterday at Prospect Lake.
