Meeting Minutes, (19 Jun 2018)

Place: Silver Threads Centre, 2340 Richmond Rd, Victoria, BC

Called to Order: 9:35 AM

Members Attending: 18 + 1 visitor

Minutes of Last Meeting: Adopted as amended: Kane Lake not Cain Lake

Items Arising from the Minutes: John's August 4 Good Time Dave Fishing Trip has been filled.

Social: 28 June, GRR forty-first anniversary picnic at the home of Wendy and Ken Evans.  Email with details forthcoming.

  • Ryan and Dale - Langford, gang troll with worm, lots of fish, biggest 3.1 lbs.
  • Mike - Shawnigan Lake, lots of bass.
  • John P - Little Ida Ann Lake with daughter, 1 trout and sunfish.
Salt Water:

  • Two-handed casting instructioin with WFA at Sooke River Campground, Thursday, 6:00 pm.
  • Advice from Peter after scary stormy during Tahsis trip: When out with charter, rely on yourself, be cautious, be safe, IF YOU ARE CONCERNED, SAY SOMETHING.

Speakers Program: June 26, last meeting before summer break: No speaker, but a collection of fishing videos.

Environment: Mick: Various projects are ongoing: Updates on Elk/Beaver, McKenzie interchange, and cutthroat stewards project. Straw vote on donating $500.00 from legacy fund to research on cutthroat habitat and abundance in Colquitz and Craigflower.

New Business: Standard limit on Island is: 4 Trout per day, 1 over 50 cm, but always check provincial freshwater regulations for any site-specific variances.

Speaker: The presentation by the Camosun students was very informative and thought-provoking. Mick provided the three students with bursary cheques of $100 each from the legacy fund.
