Meeting Minutes, (26 June 2018)

Place: Silver Threads Centre, 2340 Richmond Rd, Victoria, BC

Called to Order:  9:30 AM

Members Attending: 20

Minutes of Last Meeting: Adopted as distributed

Items Arising from the Minutes: Carnes Legacy Fund: report to family, a nice note in return.
Jack (visitor) called to say he would like to be here this morning, but has cold.

Treasurer: Treasurer Report, update forthcoming.

Sunshine: Helen is not feeling well. Pat and Doris need ride to Solstice. Bill is having reaction to Chemo, not feeling well. No visitors please.

Social: Thursday Solstice, 11:30, 4841 Elk Road, chairs, plates, cutlery and food.

Fresh Water Reports:

  • Tanquah Lake, not great fishing.
  • Winston: Langford Lake 4lb Trout, Prospect no fish. Durrance with Pumpkin Head, a number of trout.
  • Bill: Thetis Lake, 6 bass and 2 trout.
  • Mick Pender Lake, 2 trout, 2 salamanders.
  • Mike: Shanigan Lake, middle of night, Jittery Bug for bass, hit by Barn Owl.
  • Fishing Buddy website: Humpty Dumpty website: Humpty Bass Extravaganza.
  • Ron confirmed fishing at night for bass with Hula Popper.
  • Rob on flies, no fish and Ryan: gang troll, 8 fish.
  • Rob, Maltie Lake: spin fishing Cut Throat, one jumped 8 times.
  • Mike: Fresh Water Jelly Fish in Durance and Maltie Lake (above Prospect Lake, smaller than Durrance, very deep, spring fed, clear).
Salt Water Report:

  • Ryan: 2 Salmon, Otters Point.
  • Ken: Port Renfrew ? Bank Salmon, Halibut and lots of Black Cod.
  • Ron: Halibut Fishing, Beecher Bay. Good fishing. Boats for Rent, $65 and $45/ hour.

Environment: Conservation Reports: Mackenzie Cloverleaf Drainage: environmentally friendly design. CRD, Ian Bruce on Millstream Project – estimate bloomed by $150,000.00, asking CRD and Municipality to fund. Elk/Beaver Lake report, accepted. Aeration is a possible project. Cut Throat Trout Project on Craigflower/Colquitz proposal to Fresh Water Fish Society is progressing. Durrance supplies water to Bushart Garden, considering dam improvement.

  • Frank sent a lovely letter to GRR and donated $3000.00 to Legacy Fund.
  • Honorary Roll members Clive, Bill, Frank, Bob, Larry, on Motion by Jim, Seconded by Art- Unanimous Some discussion to review and decide what to be done.

Speaker: John showed various humorous videos from Internet on Mishaps when fishing. Very enjoyable.
