Golden Rods and Reels Fishing and Social Club

Meeting Minutes, (10, 03, 2020)

Place: Silver Threads Centre, 2340 Richmond Rd, Victoria, BC

Chaired By: Dave Cooke

Secretary: Christopher Wade

Called to Order: 9:30 AM

Members Attending: 24 + 1 visitor

Minutes of Last Meeting: Adopted as distributed - moved John F. 2nd Wynn

Items Arising from the Minutes:
Approval of the $1000 donation ,to PICI phase 2 from GRR Legacy Fund.
Mick submitted funding request on behalf of World Fisheries Trust to Barry F, Chairman of the Legacy Fund.
Barry presented the request to the Executive recommending approval.
Ron D. moved that Executive approve the donation which was passed with a unanimous vote. Bill T. moved 2nd Winton, that the GRR membership approve the donation from the Legacy fund the motion was passed unanimously.

Treasurer: John Francis – no report

Sunshine: Fidele absent. A volunteer is needed to take over Sunshine from Fidele. Art Raven had fall and broke his pelvis, he is in the Vic General rm 708d. He has a cell phone, text messages are welcome.

Social: Solange. Next event ST Patrick's Day Potluck Dinner - March 19, 2020 has been cancelled

Freshwater:

  • Ron D. Barry reported that Dale had success on Durance Lake and Prospect, Barry not so much.
  • Sandy M. reported on a trip to Forks, Washington for spring steelhead fishing – licence fee $ 17/day –motels have fisherman rates $ 66/night.
  • April 8 Fish out at Fuller Lake near Chemainus/alternate date April 10.
Salt Water: Ryan A.

  • Roger G. caught an 8 lb. wild spring salmon - Oakbay flats
  • Note to boaters - make sure you have all the safety gear required, RCMP are checking.
Fly Tying: Dave R - GRR at Colin Sat. March 14, 2020 -10:00- check chat for directions.

ACS: Brian reported on the meeting

Library: Colin – new books available .

Legacy Fund: Sandy M. $1000.00 donation to the PECHIE project part 2. approved by GRR membership

Gillie Club: Denis G away - Garage sale postponed until after move to new location.

Reported on the activities of Peninsula Streams and World Fisheries Trust and recommended a potential partner for the replacement of the fishing dock at Elk Lake.

New Business: Silver Threads will be relocating from our current address to 902 Caledonia Ave. Dave C., John F., Dennis and Christopher visited the new Silver Threads location. Storage is available and Silver Threads will move it. GRR membership voted to move to 902 Caledonia Ave.
