Meeting Minutes, ( 12, 05, 2020)

Place: Zoom

Chaired By: Dave Cooke

Secretary: Christopher Wade

Called to Order: 9:30 AM

Members Attending: 23 online

Minutes of Last Meeting: Adopted as distributed

Items Arising from the Minutes:

  • GRR item stored at Barry's – Trophies need to find a new home. Mick picked up the Secchi Disk.
  • New location. The room is long and narrow , with a tile floor. Screen to be located on the long wall. Dave C. John F. and Ron D. to check on computer cabinet, and find the shelving from the mezzanine. First in person meeting will probably be in Sept.
Treasurer: John Francis – gave financial update. Have not paid Silver Threads yet, negotiations under way to adjust the fees for the covid shut down.

Sunshine: Art is waiting for a Long Term Care placement. A volunteer is needed to take over Sunshine from Fidele.

Freshwater: Ron D.
Prospect Lake

  • Dale- good success with articulated bunny leech on intermediate sink and full sink lines. Speed sensitive 1.5 m/h uses gps on fish finder to maintain exact speed.
  • Ken, and Barry had success with a bunny leech despite windy conditions.
  • Ira had 13 to hand on Mon. on a pumpkin head and marabou leech.
  • Christopher finally caught a fish on a seal bugger donated by Sandy M.
Langford Lake

  • Bill T. and son each caught 4 x 12 inch fish on a beaded leech on full sink lines.
Elk Lake

  • Bob C. caught 4 fish on a wee tad and doc spratly very pleasant with out the traffic noise and rowers

Salt Water: John P. went crabbing in front the Songhees caught 4 red rock crab.

Legacy Fund: Dennis has sold the donated 2 float tubes and will get the money to John F.

Gillie Club: Dennis G. – working on a program to teach fly casting

Speakers Program: Bob C. Via Zoom See calendar for speakers

Hatchery: Bill almost all of the fish have been released, this years fry have been ponded. DFO because of staffing issues as a result of covid 19 have release all this years hatched eggs.

Environment: Mick - report on GRR Chat.

New Business: Bill T. to nominate Mick for environmental award with BCWF

Meeting Adjournment:
