Called to Order:  9:30 AM

Attendee's: John, Bill, Mike , Sandy, Ken, Lee, Barry, Peter , Dave, Ron, Colin, Gary, Dale, Tony, Lee, Dave Robinson, Tim,  Mohamed.

One minute silence was given  for Ray Wallace.

Members Attending:  Zoom: Dennis Gedney, Jim McDonald, Winn  , Ron Estey ,Mick.

Minutes of Last Meeting: Minutes of last meeting were approved on  a motion by  Barry, seconded by Bob. No news from boat show. Dave will give casting seminar in spring

Items Arising from the Minutes: No news yet on boat show. Dave Robinson will give fly tying demo if we rent a booth.

Treasurer: Sandy Raven: Nothing to report.

Sunshine: Wendy Gedney nothing to report. Ryan doing well. Using walker.

Social: Bob and Bill: Mike : Chinese New year is the next social gathering. We will discuss this at the next meeting as to what date and where we will celebrate it.

Membership: Posters available for display. Island outfitters and Robinsons covered. Please pick on up from Mike Galbraith. Let him know where you post michaelbrentgalbraith@gmail.com

Fresh Water: Dale fished prospect. There was ice on the  lake . Two fish were caught on Chironomids, Pink Booby on bottom. Fish were being caught from shore

Salt Water: Fishing for Springs good at Becher Bay, Sooke and Pedder Bay

Fly Tying:  Tying at Johns Pierce next Saturday

Hatchery – Back to clipping.  Eggs to 87 schools. Feeding fish. We will be Releasing most of fish before March.

PSS – Putting pitt tags in fish and released in local streams .  Auction 18th March looking for flys to auction off. Donate as soon as possible. Three boxes to be supplied.
BCWF – GM  Nothing to  report.
ACS – meeting first week in Jan 2023
WFA –
Library:  Library is now in Club house. Have a look.
Legacy Fund: Nothing to  report
Gillie Club: Dennis – Cluxue booking at Website. Jan16th 10:00am. Dennis is looking for fishing destinations for future fishing. Super tackle in Nanaimo. 5 Rosedale St. 250- 7161982.  Dennis going to Cluxue July 28- august 6th.
   
Speakers Program: Dave Cooke : Nothing to report

Fund Raising: $1000.00 needed for Camera on Craigflower. Future fund raising

Environment: Mick – Elk Lake publicity distributed . Article by BCLSS .Two articles by BCWF -- one for the dock and another on oxygenation. Forthcoming article in Saanich Back Yard and blog news from FFSBC in Spring.
Notes of appreciation received from PacifiCan and FFSBC

2/ BCLSS will hold Lake conference in Saanich in September 2023. Dates to be announced.
Mick is advising Rick Nordin and organizing committee on venues , sponsors, etc.
Focus will be on Elk/Beaver Lake

3/ Rebecca at CCS -WFT-will have draft Elk Lake phosphorus trends available to Mick next week. Approximately 50% of $5,000 budget from BCWF utilized to date. Rebecca's big project in the Fall was Gorge Creek salt marsh restoration .

4/ Jon Jeffrey , BC govt hydrologist  is available to help stewardship groups with hydrometric monitoring projects. He joined BC govt staff last year and is appreciative of phone call and resource materials provided by Mick.

5/ There is interest in installing camera system at Craigflower fish counting fence , similar to Colquitz system. It may result in request to the Legacy fund at a later date. Smolt counting is planned for Spring. Coordinated by Rebecca.

6/ Lobbying continues for creation of BC Watershed security fund and representatives are requesting a meeting with Minister Nathan Cullen ( Stewardship ministry).

7/ Next GWI meeting is Wednesday January 18 at 7pm at the Canoe Club on the Gorge.

New Business: Sandy Raven thanked everyone for Poinsettia.
John Francis presented the new banner. It was well received. We will use it for the new  business cards. We will ask if it is possible to put banner on outside of building.
There was discussion about sharing a booth with other fishing clubs at the upcoming Adventure Show. Cost is $750.00 to rent booth. They may give non profit clubs a discount.
Robert McConnell's wife has written book about her family's experience during the Holocaust. She will give a talk on January 26. See Ron Duncan for more information
