in Person and Zoom Meeting Minutes,
Dated March 14 2023

Place: Esquimalt Anglers and Zoom 9:30 Am

Called to Order: 9:30 AM

Attendees: Bob, John, Dave, Tim, Sandy, Ken, Brian, bill, Gerry, Barry, Colin ,Lee ,Denis, Mike, Sandy Raven, Gunnar, Winston, Art,  Dave Cooke Peter

Members Attending Zoom: Jim, Mike, Mohamed, Win, Wendy

Minutes of Last Meeting Approved By: Barry and Mike.

Items Arising from the Minutes: Business cards-membership cards. Sandy mentioned that a card to hand out that one could keep in their wallet would be an advantage. It was suggested that we have ½ of each. Mike suggested laminated card for durability. Pins will take five weeks for delivery.

Treasurer Sandy Raven: Mike is purchasing pins for $576.80. Club gave approval

Sunshine Wendy Gedney: ChristopherW & wife both dealing with cancer. RyanA, doing fine will attend in future. Dale's wife is in intensive therapy.

Social: Bob, Mike: 27 people for St. Pats dinner. Bring your own plates and cutlery. Label any serving utensils with your name. 5:00.for set up. 5:30pm-6:00 social. Song sheets will be given out for singing.

Membership: $60.00 full membership. $20.00 for ass.

Fresh Water: Eagles taking fish at Durance Lake. Sandy is going out to Durance on Thursday. Approx. 10:00am.

Salt Water: Barry was crabbing off Sidney Spit. He had his crab line caught in motor prop and used auxiliary motor to get back to port. Lesson: Always have spare motor. They did get some crab. Lousy weather. Bob and Peter were out fishing. Fishing was slow Bob caught 4lb. salmon. Peter going out to Halibut derby on Saturday.
                   
FishOuts: 20 people at fish out. Lots of fish caught, great food and good camaraderie. A Big thank you to JohnP for organizing it.

Fly Tying:  8 people at Johns Pierces for last weeks fly tying. This week the Tom Thumb fly will be demonstrated on zoom this Saturday.

Hatchery: Nothing to report, cold weather slowing fish down and they are not feeding.

PSS – Silent Auction: Now on. Go to the website to bid on items. Two of MikeG's fly-tying stations were auctioned off. The auction closes at end of the Banquet. If wish to attend this fundraising banquet go to the PSS website to prebook.

BCWF March 25th and 26th see Dave Cooke if you wish to join him.

ACS:

WFA: Check website for fish outs.

Legacy Fund: Nothing to report.

Gillie Club: Denis is going to Cluxue, if you want information contact him.

Speakers: Seeing with Sound - How Echosounder Technology Gives us Eyes in the Ocean. Mr. Nicholas Ens gave a very interesting talk on the history and science behind Echosounder Technology. It was very well presented.
Next week Adam from Victoria Fish and game Protection ASS. will be talking about Timber West Access Program

Fund Raising: Fairway's Cards will be available at next meeting.

New Business: Casting seminar, sign up sheet necessary to find out numbers and date preferred.   Tour of Duncan hatchery April 18th. Car pool.
This will take place of meeting. More info to come
