OGDEN POINT BREAKWATER

GENERAL

  • 800m long breakwater from James Bay ending in small lighthouse, protecting Victoria's deepwater harbour, originally built in 1914.
  • Safety railed, water access points, very popular for shore fishing from.
  • Kelp beds mainly along south side, some gaps, clearer off end.
HISTORY
20190913 GRR Member Ron Duncan reports that 1) divers say the kelp is loaded with ling cod, 2) at least one big salmon caught off breakwater and many lings this summer, and 3) many fish inside/north side where no kelp.
