FLY: DOC SPRATLEY

On Dec 28, 2019, 8 GRR Members met up to tie flies, tied wet Doc Spratley flies, originally invented in BC Interior for lake fishing rainbow trout.

Pattern info and pictures from GRR Member DaveR:

  • Hook: #10 to # 16 wet fly 2x long
  • Thread: 8/0 black or tan
  • Tail: grizzly hackle fibres
  • Rib: oval silver tinsel
  • Body: black or tan yarn
  • Wing: pheasant tail fibres
  • Beard: grizzly hackle fibres
  • Head: peacock herl

Hook: #10 2x long streamer
Thread: 6/0 black
Tail: Golden pheasant crest
Rib: Silver medium tinsel
Body: Black embroidery floss
Throat: Natural guinea foul
Wing: Pheasant tail
Head: Peacock herl
