Called to Order: 9:30 AM

Motion to accept the minutes last meeting: mMved by Sandy and Barry.

Items Arising from the Minutes: AGM will be held on November 21.

A Speaker Coordinator is needed.

Dues are now Due. $75 single $100 family, $30 associate. Pay by eTransfer Treasurer @ GRR or give a cheque to Gerry Walsh. If your family members attend our socials, you should come in at the family rate to get insurance from BCWF.

Christmas pot luck is December 19th.

Treasurer Sandy Raven: Complete treasurer report to come. Sandy put forward a motion to cancel $135.00 for 3 million directors insurance. Several members voiced concern over canceling it and would like to see what the policy covers. It was decided to carry the motion over to the next meeting.

Sunshine: Wendy Gedney. All healthy

Social Bob, Mike: Soup social event next Wednesday Nov. 15 Goldstream Park at covered picnic area Bob, Andre, Lee, Jim, Sandy will be Bringing soup. All others please bring Appy's Please bring your own drinks. Barry  will be providing 2 thermoses of coffee. Bring your own Cutlery chairs. Soup is on at 11:00am. Parking is always tight at this time of year. If you have some firwood please bring.

Membership: 

Fresh Water:
1) Dale Sunday. Langford lake landed 12, all were small. They were nice healthy-looking fish. He used Tom Thumb and Bunny leach. North end of lake. Lots of boats on the lake.
2) 100 mike house kokanee fishers. A spinning glow plug is the hot lure for kokanee.
3) Tom Witoski was at Thetis Lake and caught 8 trout all small but good fishing, he was on the main part of lake. Launched at main beach. He fished shallow used natural bunny leach.
4) If you are going fishing in any of the local lakes please post on the chat line, it might inspire others to go out and join you.

FishOut at Prospect Lake Nov. 22. Hot dog swill be served at 12:00pm 3,000 new fish have been put into the lake.

Thank you to Dave Robinson for excellent fly casting seminar. 10 people present. Will do another one in spring. Fly tying this Saturday for the Spruce Fly. If anyone has family memories of those who have served for Canadian Forces we will share at 9:00am.  Fly tying 10:00am.

Hatchery: Grant picked up 80 Coho and with some from the Shawnigan lake run , The hatchery has104 in tank. The stream walkers twice a week walk the river to count fish. DFO projected 10,000 counters have counted 1,000.  Chum eggs go to schools to raise. last year the hatchery released 300,000 smolts into Goldstream Stream

PSS: Donated money helped pay for two to four thousand pit tagged Coho for Craigflower stream. Hatchery may be putting 3-7 thousand into Millstream. 61 coho were counted going through Millstream camera. Failure in camera so it might be undercounted. The camera has background squares to tell how big the fish is. Fish ladder #4 is where the highest number of fish carcases are spotted. Fish ladder # five has an impediment. The  plan is  to put in a  weir or a 2 step ladder. No fish above culvert. New smell of cement might have affected fish. 20,000 smolts were released above culvert.

Pit tag device is the size of a grain of rice. A needle inserted into the abdomen of the smolt. 2,000 last year, 2 died. The tag Activates a device when they swim past. Each pit tag is numbered. People check rookeries and killer wale scatt for pit tags.   

BCWF: Dave Cooke moved into new house in Campbell River.

ACS: Revised minutes sent out. Sports Fishery Advisory meeting. One motion put forward was to ask DFO to extend clipped salmon season to June 1.

WFA: 

Library: Ron Duncan's books are free on table. Tuesday fish equipment sale on weekend in new year. First sale on Tuesday so members can have first choice. The general sale will be on a Saturday.

Legacy Fund:

Gillie Club: Dennis has decided to not continue with Cluxue fishing. He  will go to Campbell River from now on. He is looking for advice on times and places to stay.
Lake Cowichan fishing. Big cutthroat at mouth of streams. Use worms. Home made lures for cutthroat. 60- 70 feet in 300ft of water.
   
Speakers Program: Lye speaking next week. Set up will be on table will be books. Look but please do not take.

Fund Raising: Fairway cards available. 

Environment:  Mick away. California EPA. Officially looking into the chemical in car tires. Trying to find new chemical in tires that will not harm fish

New Business: Haig Brown is putting on a slide show on fishing Christmas Island for Bone Fish at the Officers Mess. Check their website for date and time
Robinsons Fly shop is putting on an International Fly Ass. films from around the world on fly fishing Nov. 14th 6:45 . Grant will send more info on chatline.  Nov. 14th.

Ian Cameron has copper wire for anyone whop wants some.
