CALLED TO ORDER: 10:00am

ATTENDEES – IN PERSON: See signin sheet below. New Member Mark Polle, from Red Lake Ontario, lake fishing experience, like to ocean fish.

ATTENDEES - ZOOM: Michael Corry, David Cooke, Rob Butler.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF LAST MEETING: Moved by Barry and Colin.

ITEMS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:
1) Gear sale Saturday 9am-12pm at clubhouse, Sandy McElroy need volunteers.

MEMBERSHIP GERRY WALSH:
Emailed out updated Membership Contact List. Club pins available for $10.00.

TREASURER SANDY RAVEN: No update.

SUNSHINE WENDY GEDNEY:
1) Dennis in hospital last night, home now.
2) John Buygane in hospital for several days.
3) Mohammed Docrat - Thank-you for condolences card.

SOCIAL BOB COMERFORD, MIKE GALBRAITH:
1) Appreciation for Christmas Dinner work.
2) Chinese New Year Thursday 8th February, 16 signed up. Jade Restaurant same location as last year.

FRESH WATER DALE SCHEEL:
1) Mike Corry – Confirmed even electric motors are not allowed on Kemp Lake.
2) Mohammed Docrat – Kemp Lake is a good lake for float tubes, pontoons etc as nicely protected.

SALT WATER: Nothing going on. Poor weather and lack of fish.

FISHOUTS JOHN PIERCE:
1) Jan 17th cancelled due to weather, voted not to defer to next week, thus next FishOut is February 21, 2024, location TBD.
2) See website Calendar for longer trips, ie Cluxewe, BC Interior.

FLY TYING DAVE ROBINSON: Fly tying is on at usual time on Zoom 9:00 am chat.10:00 fly tying.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES BILL THOMAS:
Hatchery: Picking dead eggs out of trays. This month start delivering eggs to ~100 Victoria area Schools for "Salmon-in-the-City" DFO sponsored program.
PSS: Strategic Planning day last Friday. Bill collected forage fish eggs, including Sand Lance eggs at Esquimalt Lagoon.
BCWF David Cooke: Regional meeting invite sent out, program for children/grandkids available.

LEGACY FUND/FUND RAISING:

CONSERVATION MICK COLLINS:
1) Coordinating for 40+ Environmental groups is Watersheds BC.
2) Gorge Waterway Initiative meet every 2 months, see website.
3) Algae blooms continue to be issue on several CRD lakes.
4) Main challenge is funding and staff expertise/knowledge as many projects.

2) March 5 – Jochen Moehr, Cutthroat Trout fishing in Sooke Harbour & Sooke River.

NEW BUSINESS:
1) If grievance with govt, recommend write letter.
2) Millstream – 91 Adult Salmon so far this year.
3) Sandy McElroy – Please bring more gear for Jan 20th Public Sale.
4) Lunch after meeting at Four Mile Pub.
5) Mike Galbraith – Interest in Scotty's Sidney Manufacturing Shop Tour, Mike to organize.
