MOTION TO ACCEPT LAST MEETINGS MINUTES: Ian and Mohammed

ITEMS ARISING FROM MINUTES:

TREASURER Sandy Raven: Motion to adopt treasurers report – Accepted and motion passed

SUNSHINE Wendy Gedney: John Ganan passed – Card sent to Quinine.

SOCIAL Bob C & Mike G: Next social is celebrating the Chinese New Year on 8th February at the Jade Fountain restaurant. Let Mike Galbraith know if you would like to come as soon as possible. 22 people so far are attending for 11.30am.

MEMBERSHIP Gerry Walsh: No update.

FRESH WATER Dale Scheel:
- Prospect last Thursday – never saw a rise or fish to start so went to middle Buoy and anchored. Switched to a pink and red Booby eye and red chironomid - got 12 fish with 2 over 17in. No further fish - Water was 42 degrees.
- Tip of the week: Don't leave an area if you are catching fish to look for fish elsewhere even if the fish are small as it could change quickly!!!
- Cambell River area – Dave Cooke reports that local lakes are going to be stocked with Kokanee

SALT WATER:
- Peter back from Australia – Fished one day (Typical story – Boy you should have come a month earlier – a few small fish on the boat but Peter was Skunked
- Season now open for Halibut – lots of boats with some success
- Some reasonable Salmon averaging 4 to 8 lbs and quite a lot of small fish
Note: Crab cops are out so make sure Buoys are correct and properly marked
Dave Cook spoke to fisherman in small boat with 3 nice 10 lb plus fish by Campbell River

FISHOUTS John Pierce: 15th February Fuller Lake.

FLY TYING Dave Robinson: No decision yet – Zoom this Sat will advise as to flies

VOLUNTEERING Bill Thomas:
- Hatchery: Ponding Alevin soon – selecting and removing dead eggs – 95% success rate of live eggs. In river is approx. 30% - Coho will be released in March.
- PSS: Smolt trap Mar to June in Coldquitz (GRR to volunteer for 2 hrs at a time – one day per week – suggested Thursdays (Update next week)
- BCWF Dave Cooke: Area 1 – Dave will be at BCWF Meeting in April – also will be meeting on Co managing area with indigenous groups – GRR to wait before sending general letter until such stage we have the relevant information to ensure that we have the facts and can sound coherent – Lyle is preparing a letter requesting information
- ACS: Minutes next week.
- WFA: Nothing to report

LIBRARY: No report.

LEGACY FUND: Discuss Gear Sale proceeds in Feb 6 Executive Meeting.

GILLIE CLUB Dennis Gedney: Sign up sheets for Cluxuwe and Campbell River pink fishing. Going to Campbell River Feb 9 to 15th to check out summer lodging and fishing locations. Proceeds from excess Lead Sale to Sandy Raven.
   
SPEAKERS PROGRAM Lyle Freeman:
- DFO -  no dates yet but will be on 3 subjects  One - Salmon Fishing Areas 18, 19, 20 – Second - Marine Mammals - Orcas and whales and third shellfish from Sheringham Point to Head of Saanich Inlet
- Feb 6 = Exec Meeting.
- Feb 13  .
- Feb 20 = Treaty Negotiations, GRR Member Gary Walsh.
- Feb 27 = Monthly Luncheon.
- Mar 5 = Exec Meeting.
- Mar 12 = Cutthroat Trout in Sooke Harbour, GRR Member Jochen Moehr.
- Mar 19 = Fishing With Age, GRR Member Mohammed Docrat.
- Mar 26 = Monthly Lunch

FUND RAISING: Florin Sabac made Bobin thread keepers, contact Bill Thomas to buy. Lapel Pins still available. April is outdoor show so will be looking for members to help out with shifts, setup and breakdown.

NEW BUSINESS:
- Many thanks to Gerry Kennedy for Microphone stand its much appreciated by the club
- Bill Thomas: Fanny Bay Hatchery's annual open house Sunday May 5 9am-4pm, 30 booths, entrance is free. Very good for kids/grandkids. Interest in GRR Booth for networking – Yes, lead Mohammed Docrat.
