Called to Order: 10:00 AM

Attendees:
1) New visitor, Terry, river and lake fisherman.
2) 39 members and one guest, three on zoom.

Motion to accept the minutes last meeting: moved by Barry and Ian.
1) Correction noted: Andre was fishing the Davie corner pool and short stretches down stream from the Stolz camp ground. Fishing from Skutz falls to the 72 k trestle is closed to fishing. Check your regulations.
2) $175.00 to send region AGM BCWF Qualicum beach.   

Items Arising from the Minutes:
1) Casting seminar in early March. Fly casting golf fund raiser needs an organizer.
2) 40 more fly boxes on order.
3) Fund Raising Ideas: General garage sale possible. Purdy's Christmas chocolate sales.

Treasurer Sandy: No Report.

Sunshine Wendy Gedney: No report.

Social Bob, Mike: St Patricks Day cake has been ordered, list has been sent out so everyone knows what bring. $5.00 per person to cover expenses. Sat 5:00 pm dinner at 6:00pm 

Membership Gerry: One new member

Fresh Water:
1) Dale fished Prospect Lake on Sunday. Trolled and saw no risers. Used Chironomids and landed 13. One cutthroat 12" to 15". Size 14 black headed leach. Worthwhile getting out.
2) Tip of week: Go to Highlands Weather Report on google for Prospect Lake weather report. Importance of fish finder when fishing chironomids. You have to find the fish then anchor your boat. Throat pump into throat of fish will show you what the fish are eating. Blood worms are the main food. Try to match colour with the blood worm. Look for adults and multiply by four for size of fly.
3) Sandy McElroy uses 12 to 18 when using chironomids. He fished the Vedder River. Using flies, no luck. Most other fishers were using spin casting lures. The occasional steelhead being caught. Not many people. Most using floats using spinning gear below Chilliwack no crowds.
4) Andre recommended fishing for browns with a general practitioner fly.

Salt Water:
1) Becher Bay and Whirl Bay using anchovies. Pedder bay for halibut. 300 ft depth, in line with race rocks.
2) Fishing halibut is good to excellent. Sooke has been successful. Max size 120centmetes.
Catching halibut with herring using butt juice int herring with 3 lb wait. See Peter for anchoring setup Brentwood Derby registered a 20lb, 19.4lb catch.
3) Norm: Fished off Sidney dock last week, caught 7lb using buzz bomb. He Modifies buzz bomb with a trailing red bead and small hootchie.
4) Dave Cooke saw supply of herring in the water off Campbell River. Salmon being caught close to shore.
5) Dave mentioned that DFO and first nations intend to set up  a  traditional fish trap for Campbell River. This will be eventually set up on all the rivers. From August to October. Dave will keep us up to date.

FishOuts: Prospect on 20th March, hot dogs served at noon.

Fly Tying: Dave will demonstrate a Carp fly and bass for this Sat. on zoom at 10.00am

Volunteering Bill:
1) Hatchery: No report
2) PSS: Gala. 318 people in att. Finest at sea. Provided food. Dinner for 12 people by finest at sea people went for auction $2600.
3) Auction 2 fly boxes from club being auctioned for $280.00

Legacy Fund: 

Gillie Club Dennis: Never adjust drag when you have a fish on. Too many things can go wrong.

Speakers Program Lyle: DFO coming in April. Mohamed coming next week.

Fund Raising:

Environment Mick:
1) CRD Meeting yesterday. Gorge water way stewards giving feed back o Colquitz. Hydrology is the most important issue. Questions were asked on where the process is going.Jill Robinson reported on Beaver management. Plotting where they are. At least 12 beavers in local parks and at Maltby Lake.
2) Notice from PSS on Craigflower smolt count has been sent out. looking for volunteers PSS Copley park restoration. With $250,000 grant.
