Called to Order:  10:00 AM

Items Arising from the Minutes: Bill thanked Mike for standing in for his absence.  Next meeting Dennis will be hosting a flytying session after the meeting.

Treasurer:  Sandy gave financial report. See online for details. Sandy Meclroy and Colin Chadwick moved to accept the report.

Sunshine: Wendy Gedney.

Social Mike: St Patrick's dinner. 11 people attending. We have a Chilli and Irish stew, Green Jello dish so far. Please let Mike know what you intend on bringing. Light pre dinner Appy's and desserts are always welcome. Sunday 16. 5:30pm.

Fresh Water: Dale: No Report

Salt Water:
1) Rock fishing and ling Cod season opens May 1s. Use release method.
2) Bob and Peter went to Sooke and started jigging for salmon but could not get to bottom, with the strong current. They caught 3 hatchery salmon in 5lb range. Fish at 150 feet of water using coho killer lure.
3) Pedder bay someone caught a 22.5 lb salmon.
4) Ian – crabbing and prawning Sidney Spit. 12 crabs all good size. Prawning in 120 feet of water. All the prawns were very small.

FishOuts:
1) 26 March Langford Lake, hot dogs at south end of lake. There is a Dock there where you can fish if you do not have a boat.
2) April fish out, the Carnes family will be sponsoring this fish out and donating $1,000.00 to Legacy Fund. Sandy to give further details. Bill Carnes was a long time member of the club.

Fly Tying: Zoom Sat Coffee at 9:00. Mickey Finn and Royal Coachman.

Hatchery: Peter McAuley dealing with cancer. Pssf presented him an award. Raised over 150,00 at dinner for the pacific salmon foundation.Overcrowding in tanks, fish nipping at one another. One stack of eggs that have not hatched. Ponding chum and Coho in next few weeks.

Environment / Mick assisted Living Lakes Canada in applying to the Victoria Foundation to increase lake water monitoring in Greater Victoria . A copy of the application will be distributed.
2/ Mick is attending the Watershed Security Coalition meeting online March 12 discussing ways to increase BC funding.
3/ Along with several other Craigflower Creek  stewards he is invited to the official opening of the HandyDART facility .  He is also providing feedback on the whole project process. He emphasized that all of the watershed work and especially lakes , is focussed on the broader environment , especially stocked rainbow trout, stocked and wild salmon , herring and the resident Orca population.

New Business:
1) Magazine from BCWF. See Gerry if you did not get it.  Bill asked members what they liked or didn't like. Humorous stories, hunting stories, Pictures of dead animals, positive side youg people get involved. Good article on fish. Hunting magazine rather than fishing.
2) Fly fishing for bullfrogs. sport in Tennessee. Lots of Bullfrogs in Elk lake.
3) Update on Herring. Last spawning 2002 in Victoria. Saanich inlet.
4) If anyone sees sign of herring let fisheries know, above average returns for herring this year
5) Limited nets allowed at one time, more care on amount of catch.
