Meeting Minutes, (29 May 2018)

Place: Silver Threads Centre, 2340 Richmond Rd, Victoria, BC

Chaired By: Robert McConnell

Secretary: Bill Thomas

Called to Order: 9:30 AM

Members Attending: 21 + 2 Guests (Shankar Rao, George Fisher)

Minutes of Last Meeting: Mins were not distributed.

Items Arising from the Minutes:
12 June: Bring a Friend Open House, Fishing Gear Garage Sale, Bring what you want to donate. Fly Tying Demo. Extra biscuits and Timbits.

Treasurer:

Sunshine: Frank is in good spirits.

Social: 12 Jun Bring a Friend Meeting We would like a good turn out for this meeting with lots of guests. Please try to bring someone who might be interested in joining the club or just interested in seeing what you do on Tuesday mornings.

Membership:

Fresh Water:

  • Dennis @ Buttle Lake: Beautiful weather, best campsites are now on reservation list, fishing was good. Dennis found that while fishing with down-rigger, speeding up and slowing down the motor to get over humps on the bottom seems to catch fish. Ron Estey – did well sight fishing off the camp beach. Peter presented Dennis with a unique award: Grudgingly Presented for Largest Fish.
  • Barry: Durrance – not a lot fish. Colin: Prospect Lake – 8 good rainbows caught on an orange fuzz-ball. Bill: Thetis Lake – 5 Bass.
  • John: Prospect – good fishing.  Ryan: Prospect – 8 rainbows. He has a Minn Kota motor for donation. Jim visited Bass Pro store in Tsawwassen: amazing store, taxidermy exhibits and fish tank. Free shuttle bus from ferry to store.
  • Ken: Prospect – fishing for bass, lots of fish, biggest 6 lbs.
Salt Water:

  • Cecil – Oak Bay – spotty fishing.
  • Cluxewe – last week of July and first three weeks of August. Fish for salmon off beach. Look up on website.
  • Ocean Boat: Malibu for sale.

Mick: Jill Robinson is the new Elk Lake supervisor. Peninsula Streams is looking for volunteers to help with the Sidney Salmon Derby. Thanks were given to Mick for his efforts for the club.

Rack card distribution – Volunteer needed to co-ordinate card distribution to various locations.
