Environment: Bridge Light update, Dave/Mick were able to obtain a preliminary consultant's report to the city regarding the decorative lighting on the Johnson Street Bridge. The issue is the bluelights on the underside of the bridge. Detailed comments and further recommendations have been submitted to the consultant, before the report goes to council, by a stakeholder group that includes Golden Rods & Reels, the World Fisheries Trust and the Gorge Waterway Initiative.

Conservation:

  • Mick has learned of a new grant program from the Freshwater Fisheries Society. They are prepared to give up to $5,000 if groups will match it in kind or cash, for native trout species research. Mick has contacted a couple of groups to partner and lead the program, he also shared his ideas for the project and sent copies to other possible partners. We would potentially put in $1,000 from the Carnes family legacy account (with approval).
  • Elk/Beaver Lake– CRD staff are giving a progress report to the CRD parks committee later this month.
