Called to Order:  9:30 AM

Minutes of Last Meeting: Motion by Barry to accept minutes ,seconded by   Ken   

Items Arising from the Minutes: Adventure Boat Show. 10X20 booth at no cost. Mike to check out if other clubs interested in sharing booth. Possible fly casting demo along with fly testing tank. Volunteers needed for four  hour rotation. New banner cost $236.00. Motion by John to purchase seconded by Dave. John Francis to purchase 40 new fly boxes.

Treasurer: Sandy Raven: Nothing to report

Sunshine: Wendy Gedney. Brian Canfield going for operation. Wendy Gedney's mother passed, Christopher Wade in emergency for lung biopsy complications resting at home. Mike to purchase 20 cards from Robinsons

Social: Bob and Bill: Mike : Monday January  30th Jade fountain Restaurant  at Red lion Inn. 11:45am. Go to front entrance of Red lion Inn take elevator to lower floor, this is Chinese new year, start of lunar new year, and this is the year of the rabbit .WE have two tables reserved for 16 people. Membership: nothing to report

Fresh Water: Dale reported  six small fish caught at Durance Lake. Use heavy  sink line  and troll on  bottom, use Boobys

Salt Water:  Good crabbing . Fishing reports good for Beacher Bay , Whirl Bay. Two fish caught off waterfront by Wayne Z. 80 ft depth using spoon off waterfront.
 
Fish outs: Thursday, Jan.  19th  Durrance Lake . 9:00am fishing , hot dogs at 1200 noon . Bring own coffee or tea. Power bait off wharf

Fly Tying: On  Zoom . Dave will give a history and tying of the Royal Coachman.

Hatchery : Eggs to  school. New program for Schools in spring.  Pit tagging for Peninsula streams. Auction for Penisusalar streams . Call for vonunteeres, April 21. 2223, BCWF

PSS – Pitt tagging at hatchery for PSS.

BCWF – Annual general meeting April 21,22,23. In Nanaimo. The club is putting together three fly boxes for sale . if you have some flys to donater pleas give to Barry At next meeting  .


ACS – No News
WFA – West Coast Flyfishers Asss. AGM Thursday 7:00 at Esquimalt Anglers club house. Guest Speaker will be there on fishing for cutthroat trout.

Speakers Program: Dave Cooke Vicpd. cyber crime. Vic fish and game club representative to speak on access to Timber West roads.

Fund Raising: A tax receipt can be given for donation to Peninsula Streams . they will hold money for VGG conservation projects.

Environment: Mick 

1/ the two BCWF articles on the Elk lake dock and oxygenation were distributed by the CRD to Gorge Waterway Initiative members. The successful $109,000 application to PacifiCan by World Fisheries Trust (WFT)/CRD was referenced in the CRD Board latest quarterly report.

2/ priorities for 2023 are to continue work on Craigflower flow conditions and implementation of external nutrient reduction to Elk / Beaver Lake . Fraser Basin Council is having a webinar on Thursday February 16 at Noon to 1pm on the Shuswap Watershed Council phosphorous action plan.

Mick will distribute the invitation on CHAT.

3/ Rebecca Nielsen , Coastal Collaborative Sciences at WFT, has drafted the Elk Lake trends in phosphorus , oxygen and temperature in a report which is currently being reviewed by Dr. Rick Nordin. Other variables will be included in the final report, which will receive widespread distribution in due course.

Website: No updates , go to utube for fly tying or past minutes.

New Business: Ken would like to  see if another boat launch could be built at the prospect lake park. Will wait for Mick to  get back for further consultation. Fishing Derby at Langford lake March 25th for B.C. Cancer. Tickets at Island Outfitters.
