2023-04-18 GRR Field Trip - Cowichan River Fish Hatchery

The club left the club house at 9:30 for Duncan and meet for Coffee and some for breakfast at the Doghouse Restaurant in Duncan.

We (14 members) meet at the hatchery at 11:30 for the tour.

Tristan the hatchery manager carried out the tour. Tristan who was very enthusiastic about his job answered many questions on the operation of the hatchery, the raising of rainbow and cutthroat trout along with the stocking program for the various lakes on the island. It was Also noted that Kokanee were stocked in Prospect lake to evaluate how kokanee will do there.

Upon completion of the tour we then went back to the Doghouse to enjoy lunch.
