Social Bob, Mike:
1) There will be a pot luck luncheon At Ken Evan's House Celebrating the Club's anniversary on Wednesday June 28th  starting at 11:00 am. Bring your own plates cutlery, and lawn chair. Contact Bob or Mike if you are coming. Ken can send directions on the chat line Next Meeting.
2) June 20 , the club members  are going to Spinnakers for lunch in recognition of the great work, time and effort that John Francis has put into the GRR.

Membership:

Fresh Water:
1) Dale caught two carp and a cat fish at Elk Lake. Next time they will take all their flies and fish for whatever they can get.
2) Toni fished Langford Lake, caught one small trout. He tried every thing he had in his fishing box  and fished for five hours. He called it slow fishing.
3) Andre fished the Cowichan River. One fish was taken. Water levels low. Everyone using nymphs. Water temp 30 degrees.
4) Winston was checking out his equipment and was told that Inflatable life jackets were not legal. look for Transport of Canada approved sticker on back. Inflatable life jackets at Costco are selling now for $100.00
5) Bill Thomas fished Durrance and caught caught four fish. Fishing still good. Sinking line using Ray Wallace special.
6) Barry and Dale were hit by a Rower. Ken Evans will write letter to the rowing club. It is advised if fishing on Elk lake to have a small air horn.

Salt Water:
1) Peter was at his club's Halibut derby. 6 halibut caught 40lbs to 15 lbs. A  47 lb Halibut won the derby. 2 clipped Coho allowed to be caught. Best place to catch is at Sooke and Beecher Bay. Small Orca swam around Peter's boat. Swam under and was within arm's reach.   

FishOuts: Nothing organised. Bill Thomas will be going up and if interested he can take two people. Contact Bill for more info. A discussion was held over holding a carp derby but it failed to get any traction.

Fly Tying:

Hatchery: Feeding 110,00 coho fry.

PSS – Kyle Armstrong is now the President. We are hoping to get him to do a presentation to the club. We are Looking for volunteers to capture green crabs. Bill has put traps at Esquimalt Lagoon.  No green crabs caught. They did see green crabs in the water. If you would like to volunteer see Bill Thomas. This will start up in  September.

Environment Mick:
1) Mick is pleased with the positive response from over a dozen people to attend a Craigflower flow monitoring one hour online roundtable June 29. Confirmed participants include 3 CRD staff and 3 Provincial Govt staff. BCWF offered to pay expenses for travel / registration for one of the proposed beaver project team to attend a beaver workshop in Edmonton in July.
2) Mick is attending the CRD Elk/Beaver Lake recreational user advisory committee meeting on June 29 and welcomes any recommendations from the club. This Thursday he is doing a site visit to Swan Lake to check out their water quality monitoring program and sonic algae control equipment.
3) Calvin Sandborn, head of the UVic Environmental Law Centre, is retiring and Mick is attending the party at Gorge Park new Pavilion. The ELC has given tremendous support to the Elk /Beaver Lake Initiative.

New Business: Ken Evans mentioned a letter should be sent to rowing club about keeping an eye out for fisherman. John Francis is leaving the club next week. We need more people to handle the electronic job.
